Trickett's Hardware has been part of Elkins, West Virginia since 1905. More than a century later, we're still here — independently owned, locally operated, and stocked with the kind of things you actually need to get a job done.

 

We're located at 209 Davis Avenue in downtown Elkins, WV 26241. You can reach us by phone or stop in during store hours. We serve Elkins and the surrounding Randolph County communities, including Beverly, Harman, Parsons, Belington, and visitors passing through the Monongahela National Forest and Canaan Valley.

 

What We Carry

Trickett's is not your big-box hardware store. We carry a carefully selected mix of:

 

Hardware & Tools Hand tools, power tools, fasteners, rope and chain sold by the foot, keys cut on-site, plumbing supplies, pipe fittings, electrical components, building supplies, and paint supplies. We stock the small parts that let you fix things yourself instead of replacing them.

 

Premium Axes & Edged Tools We are the only retailer in West Virginia carrying the Gränsfors Bruk axe line — Swedish hand-forged axes built for forestry, splitting, carving, and log work. We also carry hunting knives, pocket knives, and locally handcrafted blades including knives with hand-stitched leather sheaths by local craftsman.

 

Natural & Local Products We believe in stocking things made right. Our natural products section includes:

Our Story

Trickett's has operated under different owners over its 120-year history, but the mission has stayed the same: give people in Elkins what they need to do things themselves. The current ownership took over with a clear vision — a hardware store that respects the dignity of work, champions local makers, and serves as a real community hub.

 

We host after-hours events featuring local craftspeople and artisans. We carry handmade goods from West Virginia makers. We sharpen knives and tools. We cut keys. We're the kind of store where someone who knows their stuff is usually behind the counter.

 

We were accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program — a national program that selects high-potential small businesses for business education and growth support. We're investing that knowledge directly back into Trickett's and the Elkins community.

Do you sell bulk refillable soap? Yes. We carry Mama Suds bulk refillable soaps by the ounce. Bring your own container or purchase one in-store. Available soaps include lavender laundry soap, lemon castile, hand soap, lavender castile, and automatic dishwasher powder.
